About Us

Choptank Electric, a Touchstone Energy Cooperative, is a member-owned electric distribution utility with headquarters in Denton, Maryland. It serves over 52,140 residential, commercial and industrial accounts in parts of all nine counties of Maryland's Eastern Shore.

Touchstone Energy is a national alliance of local, consumer-owned electric cooperatives providing high standards of service to customers large and small. More than 700 Touchstone Energy cooperatives in 44 states are delivering energy and energy solutions to more than 16 million customers every day. Touchstone Energy cooperatives serve their members with integrity, accountability, innovation and a longstanding commitment to communities.

Chartered in 1938, Choptank's first 78 miles of line were energized in Caroline County in December of 1939.
